About Mac

Meet Mac! Mac is a handsome 3.5-year-old, 40 lb neutered hound mix who adores people and enjoys the company of other dogs. Originally from Caddo Parish Shelter in Louisiana, he's been thriving in foster care in the PNW since October 2024. Mac is a sensitive, affectionate soul who loves to snuggle and has a particular fondness for ear scratches—his favorite thing in the world. He's not a full-send hound, but he's got just enough hound in him to get vocal when he has a case of FOMO. He's a fetch enthusiast and excels at returning the ball, showing off both his intelligence and playful side. In foster care, Mac has shown some defensive behaviors in loud or high-pressure situations, so he would do best with an even-keeled adopter who can read canine body language and respond calmly. Thanks to his foster with To the Point Dog Training, Mac has made huge strides in confidence and training. We're excited to find Mac his ideal home—a place where his sensitivity, intelligence, and playful spirit will be cherished, and where he can continue to thrive alongside people and canine companions who understand and love him. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, and microchip with registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Adoption also includes take-home training and support with To the Point Dog Training in Tacoma. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.
