About MAX

Meet Max! This 1-year-old, 46-pound Shepherd mix is playful, sweet, and full of life! Max was recently adopted but returned through no fault of his own—his playful energy was just a little too much for the resident dog. Now he's back and ready to find a home that's the perfect match for his bouncy spirit. Max loves kids and is a big-time snuggler who adores his people. He's active, curious, and happiest when he's exploring the world, playing fetch, tugging on toys, or zooming around the yard. He also enjoys winding down with some quiet time—he's the best of both worlds! His previous family said he does okay in a crate and does well with a routine, but he doesn't love being left alone for long stretches—he's a social pup who thrives with companionship and engagement. Here at the shelter, Max has continued to show us just how friendly, fun, and loving he truly is. He's looking for a home that can keep up with his energy, provide mental stimulation, and offer a consistent schedule to help him settle in and shine. If you're ready for a loyal adventure buddy with a heart full of love and a whole lot of goofiness—Max is your guy! ?? We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@co.johnson.in.us for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!
