Harlan is not at DPR, but his current owner asked us to help find him a great home!* Meet Harlan – A Sweet, Spirited Hound Looking for His Perfect Home Harlan is a 3-year-old hound mix with a heart as big as his nose! His Wisdom Panel DNA results reveal a rich hound heritage—53% American Foxhound, 26% Plott Hound, 19% Treeing Walker Coonhound, and a touch of Bluetick Coonhound—so it's no surprise that he has a strong prey drive and a passion for following scents wherever they lead. Originally rescued after being abandoned on the side of the road, Harlan has blossomed into a loving, energetic companion. He adores being outdoors and lives for long walks, sniffing adventures, and any opportunity to use his hound instincts. He's happiest when he has a job to do or space to roam, making him a great fit for an active household with land, a secure yard, or even a family who enjoys hunting or has experience with working breeds. His enthusiasm for tracking means he can be a strong puller on walks—even with training tools—and needs someone who can manage his strength and give him the stimulation he craves. We love Harlan dearly, but due to serious health challenges in our family and the lack of a secure yard, we know we're no longer the right home for him. Our greatest hope is to find someone who sees his potential and can give him the life he deserves: safe, stimulating, and full of love.
